Lumera Learning is not a clinic that also does schools. Our staffing, scheduling, methods, and calendar are all built around one context: the school day. We contract directly with districts across the greater Rochester area to deliver music therapy as a related service on students' IEPs — in the students' own buildings, alongside your teams.

Lumera began as the schools division of Spectrum Creative Arts, where this team built its methods, its culture, and years of trust with the districts it served. The work was always distinct — Lumera is that work under its own name, purpose-built for schools.

Annual (September–June) or biennial agreements with consistent, predictable rate structures — built for how district budgeting actually works.
Goals set with your teams
Collaborative goal-setting with the educational team: music-therapy-specific IEP goals, or integration with the goals your team has already written.
Documentation on IEP timelines
Progress reports aligned with IEP review schedules and delivered on time, every time — so no CSE meeting ever waits on a vendor.
A supervised clinical team
Our therapists work inside a real supervision and feedback structure — not as unsupervised independent contractors. Quality is systematic, and coverage is planned, not improvised.
Referrals & evaluations
What happens when a student is referred?
When your CSE or CPSE refers a student for a music therapy eligibility evaluation, our evaluation team runs a structured six-step process — file review, team interviews, observations, a one-to-one assessment, a written report, and a CSE meeting to determine eligibility together. The process typically spans 30–45 days, and your team is part of it at every step.
